David Croft was a comedy legend. Working from his Suffolk home, he was the backbone of British television comedy for three decades.
Dad’s Army, one of the timeless classics of British comedy, would have been enough to secure David Croft’s place in the television hall of fame
David died yesterday at his holiday home in Portugal. He was 89. He was awarded an OBE in 1978.
He died peacefully in his sleep at his house in Portugal earlier today.
