In Loving Memory Of Gurmail Singh Age 63--20th February 2010
A shopkeeper in Huddersfield has been killed during a robbery by a gang of teenagers.Gurmail Singh, 63, died of head injuries at the Cowcliffe Convenience store in Cowcliffe Hill Road, Cowcliffe, on Saturday night.
He was confirmed dead at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary earlier on Sunday morning
Police say the gang were in their late teens and that they fled the scene after a struggle with witnesses who tried to prevent them from leaving the premises.The gang were wearing black hoodies and tracksuit bottoms and escaped with only a small amount of money, cigarettes and sweets.Detective Superintendant David Purvin from North Yorkshire Police said: "Mr Singh was a well-known and popular local businessman who had been in this area many years.
